The new government raised the idea of granting two additional days of leave in its coalition agreement. A bill had been introduced in the end of January and it was unanimously voted on Wednesday 27 March in the Chamber of Deputies. May 9 (Europe Day) therefore becomes a public holiday in Luxembourg. Employees will also benefit from a 26th day of statutory leave. If the public holiday is applicable to all employees, the introduction of an additional day of paid leave will however only apply to employees who currently benefit from the minimum number of 25 days of annual paid leave.
